2019 starts here

 January/February 2019

In keeping with our tradition, during the years we haven’t gone to Florida for winter we have done a project at the house.  Blessed with mild weather we converted our screened porch which is built into the corner of the house into a three-season room.

We had the windows custom made to fit the openings of the screen room and assembled it ourselves. We added electrical outlets, ceiling fans, roller shades and cable TV. In keeping with southern tradition, we painted the ceiling blue to ward off evil spirits. The tile floor was almost new, we only had to reglue some tiles that had come loose, probably from the water that blew thru the screens every time it rained. For climate control we installed a small heat pump.

May 2019

A friend and former co-worker from Chrysler and his wife bought a house down the street from us. Gary and Diane bounced back and forth between here and their home up north for a time but eventually made Myrtle Beach their home.

June 2019

In the end of May through the first week of June the Kolman family flew in for a visit. Millie’s only child RaeAnne lives New Mexico and they only get to see each other (In person) a couple times a year, so it’s always special to them. Dave does a good job of keeping the two boys entertained and there’s lots for them to do here at the beach. Me, I just stay out of everyone’s way! Lol.

We only took one RV trip worth writing about, it was a two-week version of what I call the counterclockwise tour. In it we generally head north then west to visit in turn each of Millies sisters. After that we continue circling to the left to the Pigeon Forge Tennessee area before heading home to the east.

Some time ago I did a write up on this trip but never posted it. Later I revisited the writing and added some notes, using italics to separate the notes from the original text. I am going to copy that trip log in its entirety in the next post. I’m not sure if it will need additional notes, we’ll see!
